Smith River Therapy
Maggie J. Smith
Maggie Smith, M.S., LMFT, is the owner of Smith River Therapy. Maggie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and has been working with individuals, couples, and families since 2017. Her passion is relationships– those we have with ourselves, and those we have with others.
Maggie grew up in Calgary, Alberta. The Northern Rocky Mountains have always been her playground. Thanks to family in the area, she spent countless seasons in Montana throughout her lifetime. Bozeman has been her home since 2018.
Maggie received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. She is trained in Integrative Systemic Therapy. The role of the therapist is to collaborate with the client in labeling, understanding, and interrupting the patterns that perpetuate their unique struggles. The goal of the therapist is to become, for the client, obsolete.
Maggie utilizes a skills-based approach for all of her clients. Graduates of Smith River Therapy can identify concrete skills and strategies they utilize in daily life to manage their distress and relationships.
Maggie prioritizes self-compassion, accountability, and empowerment in her work, supporting the innate desire of each person to grow and learn.
Smith River Therapy is prepared to support a variety of clients in achieving their goals.
